Pam Oliver was born in Dallas, TX. In high school she excelled in tennis, basketball, and track and field. Oliver later enrolled at Florida A&M University where she continued to excel as an athlete becoming a college all-American in track and field in both the 400-meter and the mile relay. Pam Oliver earned a bachelor’s degree from Florida A&M University in broadcast journalism in 1984.

Oliver’s broadcasting career began as a news reporter for WALB in Albany, Georgia in 1985. In the following three years she would move on to work as a news reporter for WAAY-TV in Huntsville, Alabama, and WIVB-TV in Buffalo, New York. In 1990, Oliver moved to WTVT in Tampa, Florida, where she began her career as a sports anchor in 1991. She would continue her career as a sports anchor at ESPN in 1993 and later join Fox Sports in 1995, where she currently works as a sideline reporter. In 2005, Oliver joined TNT as a sideline reporter for their NBA Playoffs coverage.
